Session Nine

Attending: Bramble, Naz (Dorn has separate session), Veran (DMPC)
In the morning, the town is swarmed with youngsters jogging to different destinations, dressed in blue, green and red. Bramble runs to catch up with a well-dressed man who introduces himself Dwight Mandell who says the green apprentices are tailers, red are smiths, the grey are masons and the blue make all that sparkles.
In the distance they see a three story mansion with gold gryphons rampant on roof, and find out it was owned by Aneiryn Telavirr, who is deceased. His steward Ethrin Filiadir is now meant to be managing it. The Temple of Mielikki is abandoned, all the clerics gone. Mayor is Justinius. People who go into forest go missing, clerics possibly turn into banshees. Town turned away from Mielikki. The tree is called Efrem.
Stores in the centre - Andrew Camerons, Anaxagoris Helmo
Town - crafters are world famous, constant flow of apprentices

Temple - small book found in the altar, illegible to Veran (in druidic)
As they prepare to enter the forest they come across an odd knight with bronzen mottled armour who walks out of the forest. He doesn't answer any questions and when Veran touches him, he knocks him out. He protests that 'his Lady' protected him in the forest. Bramble had a strong compulsion to touch the gemstone.
At the fork in the road of the forest, they pick a path. They hear a dragon's roar and pick up the pace, walking straight into a gnoll ambush. Stupid gnoll and his stupid teeth incapacitates Bramble, and when Wildfire takes her vengeance gets taken down by the same gnoll. When they get past the gnolls, they find a singing tree in a grove with fey tricksters, and find dozing daisies beneath the tree.
There are signs of a shapeshifter's passing, and possibly the Man in Armour. They come across another tree with glowing fruit that turns people invisible, which are dubbed Invisiberries. Shadows in the forest nearby, and they find a six-legged two-tentacled displacer beat. Find another one on the other side. Tentacles attack. Bramble goes in the forest to punch the beast, destroys a tree instead and the tree falls on him. Air elemental saves day. After the fight they come across a really big tree in grove, and a young dryad. Bramble's amulet warms up and awakens. He can understand the Sylvan she's speaking, except all she says is that the big tree is Home. When he touches the tree he starts turning into wood and gets a bit worried. They hurry home before dusk arrives and the banshees come out.

Session Eight

23/02/15 Attending: Dorn, Bramble, Naz, Veran (DMPC), Ysmir (part)

After returning to Greenest, Bramble, Ysmir and Veran report to the scribe? Who will pass onto Governor Nighthill (who is in a meeting) what information they brought back. They told him what they had learnt, and received 300 gold each and a Letter of Recommendation signed by the governor. Immediately after, some armourers come clamouring for Ysmir, saying her armour is ready and to come and pick it up. At the same time, Bramble noticed a familiar pup playing with a child in the street, and was confronted with a decision to take back his pup or leave a boy with his only companion left in the world. Nearby they both noticed a row of merchant stalls and took the opportunity to sell excess objects, and an announcement goes out that any adventurers in the keep in the morning will be conscripted into the army. The party departs, heading west, and encounter a rogue who wishes to join the party outside the gates. A bit further along the path they smell another traveller and Veran is offended by his stench before they even speak, but as all are headed west he joins them as well. Next they come across a few naked bandit corpses, and Ysmir is convinced that they are still alive, making every attempt to revive them whilst Naz proves that they’re definitely dead by stabbing them through the forehead. Bramble silently pulls the corpses off the road and they continue onwards. Dusk falls and they make camp just off the road, setting three watches. During the second watch, Naz sees suspicious shadows slowly approaching, and when third watch begins he gets Dorn’s assistance to check it out. Dorn shapeshifts into a panther and the clouds suddenly part to let the moon reveal that it’s just goats. At daybreak, Ysmir decides she wants goat for breakfast and Naz complies but finds nothing but phantom goat noises (which is a prank coordinated by Dorn and Veran). After the goat escapade, they continue westward and find a family packing up a wagon with their livestock in order to return to Fairhollow. They tell a story of a missing daughter Sophia who was rescued by a powerful adventurer with a red cloak, brown armour and a black diamond on his chest and who took their life savings as reward. Bramble remarks he sounds familiar, as if from a dream, and hands over a bunch of gold (76g) for one of their goats. Ysmir acts strangely, climbing up on their roof to investigate, demanding his secrets and causing the farmer concern. Eventually she catches up, learning little, as the party encounters a river with a ruined bridge. Dorn jumps into the water before transforming into a crocodile and sees parts of the bridge beneath the water, long decayed. The others knock on a nearby shack located next to a jetty and raft. The smell of the goat is starting to offend everyone, and an ugly old woman with one loose tooth asks a high price for conveyance, with an extra charge for the goat and the dog. Bramble is offended and says they should just burn down her shack in irritation, and Veran makes a fiery threatening gesture, so she quickly offers a lower price and they all board. Halfway across, Naz sees a dangerous-seeming shadow in the water and goes to kick the goat in, and Bramble goes to catch it, ending up in the water himself. Luckily he can easily keep up with the old woman’s ferry skills and swims alongside until Naz pulls him back on the raft. Veran snaps because of the smell and when the sacrifice of the goat fails he sets it on fire. The wooden ferry begins to burn, Bramble jumps back into the water and Ysmir shoves the old woman further towards the back of the ferry as she frantically takes over the ferry, speeding ahead. The barge crashes into the other shore and Ysmir bolts into the forest. The old woman is distraught, but Naz decides to check her bra for her money, causing her breast to crumble into dust in his hand. He freaks out and punches her in the nose, trying to knock her out, but only breaks most of her face and more of her crumbles to dust as she realises her livelihood is ruined and goes fetal. Bramble reaches the shore and is helped out by Naz, and as a crocodile (Dorn) lunges for the burnt carcass of the goat on the smouldering raft, and carries it away, Bramble bolts for Wildfire, worrying for her safety with a violent animal around. Veran mutters something to the old woman and gives her something as he shakes his head and they leave her behind. They find Dorn waiting for them down the road and don’t ask any questions. The trail soon leads to a stone city in front of a boundless forest, with a massive tree in its centre. The old guard confirms that it is Fairhollow, and all the stores are in the centre near the tree. Dorn moves quickly to commune with the tree, and Naz, Veran and Bramble go to the nearest tavern, the Gilded Lily. The tavern keeper says no pets are allowed, and states there isn’t even any meat on the menu. Naz and Bramble have a drink of mead together while Naz talks to a suspicious person on the bar who tells him in Thieves Cant of a rich house that would be a challenge. The proprietor again tells Bramble no dogs so he goes to another tavern – The Muddy Pig. The owner there offers a clear liquid drink, and after one sip Bramble passes out. Dorn learns from the tree that it is a treant, one of the original forest and one of the oldest things in the world. The Tree tells him of a dryad who left a message saying the forest was dangerous now. Naz carefully tries to convince Veran to help him rob the rich house, but is rebuffed. Bramble is slapped awake but takes another sip of the drink, sways, and falls on the floor unconscious. Dorn decides to spend the night in the Tree’s branches. Night falls, and the town goes to bed early, closing all their windows. A strange wailing sound and accompanying light trickles through from the forest side, putting panic into Naz’s heart and making Veran unsettled. The latter goes to alert the guards and Naz goes to find the intoxicated Bramble, promptly trying to sober him up by throwing him in the horse trough. Wildfire tracks Dorn to the tree and they shout for him, and he heals away his drunkenness before pulling him into the tree (sending the dog back to the tavern). When he’s up in the tree, Bramble’s Amulet of the Claw begins to glow brightly and he feels as if the Tree is drawing him in, and Dorn appears to recognise it. Veran joins them and says the guards won’t help, as the banshee reveals herself. Bramble, now sober, tells them it’s magical creature and only magical weapons will hurt her.
Banshee – casts fearful visage, frightened Dorn
Naz – moves next to Veran
Bramble – leaps from branch to branch, moving as far as possible towards banshee
Veran – starts chanting, casting twinned Haste on Naz + Bramble
Dorn – still frightened, falls out of Tree
Banshee – wails, dropping Bramble to 0 HP
Naz – slashes with his daggers as he runs past banshee, trying to kite her away
Bramble – unconscious
Veran – throws a healing potion at Bramble, giving him 10 HP back
Dorn – creates a beam of moonlight that damages banshee while he concentrates
Banshee – takes flight, sailing towards Dorn
Naz – again tries to stab her and kite her away from the Tree
Bramble – unleashes four attacks, only hits with one
Veran – still concentrating
Dorn – still concentrating on moonbeam, turns into Elk and moves moonbeam to in front of him
Banshee – leers at them all, causing everyone except Bramble to be frightened
Naz ((can’t remember))
Bramble – unleashes another barrage, dealing 30 damage
Veran – still concentrating
Dorn – kills banshee with moonlight
As she dies, she shows what she used to look like – bluish skin and long dark black hair – and drops an amulet that has Mielikki’s symbol. Bramble snatches it from the ground before anyone else can see, as the elf woman was familiar…

He wakes up in the dingy tavern, dog under bed, with the locket clutched in his hand over his heart, and the intention to see if there’s a temple of Mielikki in this town and find out more about the town.

Brad's Session #1

A small dryad comes running through the trees as the party walks back toward Greenest, and three orcs are following her with torches. It sounds like she has escaped from the east camp. Bramble leapt over one of the orc's tower shields and attacks the archers. Veran throws a flask of oil at the archers and turns away, and Bramble lights it with a Sweeping Cinder Strike. Veran tends to the dryad's injuries and they return her to her tree. She gives Veran her floating gem, which is an Ioun Stone. They return to Greenest and when they are healed they are approached by a fey woman who offers her gloves of healing if we sort out why the wild creatures are going crazy. Veran obtains a Scroll of Summon Animated Armour and summons an armour that is promptly named 'Bob'.
They travel east towards the camp, and Veran prestidigitates to appear as one of the orc guards, but can't speak Orcish. They start to battle two orcs on the ground and two in the tree, and Veran calls for Bob to come to his aid, avoiding the pit trap. Bramble keeps getting knocked out of the tree
Find fort with iron bands. Orc guards nearby, and they throw a rock to distract them when they snuff out their torches. They sneak around to the locked sallyport and a large green troll emerges. Ducking away, Veran throws a flask of oil and twins Scorching Ray. Bob arrives and the troll falls on him. Then they deal with the orc patrol and proceed into the fort.
The party levels up.
The door opens onto the kitchen, and right in the doorway is a statue of an elf trying to reach the doorknob. Veran notes there is a forge, stables, and a large figure smithing. When Bramble opens the door he is startled by the elf statue and draws the attention of the smith, whom he draws back into the kitchen with Bob. Bob drags Orog Smith to the ground while Bramble hides. When the halfling joins the battle he tries to leap over the bench and slips in salsa. Bob goes down and Kneel is resurrected from his armour as Veran blasts him to hell. They take his hammer. In the yard they find wargs in the stable and block the barracks door with iron blocks. In another hut is a shaman of Gruush that wants us to kill his boss Joor, and Twee + Gorm the underlings. He hands over two wands and promises his shaman's staff after their success. They go into the cave and are ambushed by two bugbears holding back wargs and two orc archers. Kneel is damaged. Bramble breaks a warg's spine and Veran drops an archer onto a bugbear. Warg bites tamer and the bugbears attack each other. They try to question the armless orc and put him out of his misery. Pick up a fancy mace called Whomper, 'The Ogre's Arm', and find platinum pieces, opals and mirrors. As they go through the upstairs door, Bramble is gassed and two large Orog turn. One is in red plate and seems to be a rage-based fighter called Grom, and the other is an archer in red chainmail called Twee. There is a cage full of captives and an elven woman standing near it.

Veran - twin scorching ray at Grom + Twee
Br - sprints at Twee + jumps up at him on parapets
Grom - smashes into Bob x2
Twee - barbed arrow > Br's thigh
V - fireball, killed Bob + damages Grom
Br - great damage to Twee's bow arm
Grom - slices V's leg a bit when smacked with a crude greataxe
Twee - barbed arrow to Br's other thigh
Br - shatters Twee's leg, head, tears out + eats brain as light goes out of eyes
Grom - hits mirror clone
V - fireballs Grom
Br - leaps through air + smashes his skull

The elven woman shapechanges into beauteous ogre with a morningstar and reveals herself as Joor. She opens the wall of the cage and they hear hissing. Bramble thinks it's a basilisk and his assumption is confirmed as one of the elves is turned to stone.
Br - runs across the wall, punches off lock, tries to free prisoners. Two more statues.
Joor - hits last mirror clone away and hits Veran with her morningstar, acid resisted
V - wand (2nd use) and chugs a potion
Br - wand to disintegrate statues and let the rest of the people out
J - smacks Br out of the way with acidic dmg and blocks the cage door again.
V - makes Joor smell the scent of skunk
J - yells 'You filthy creatures!' and runs away as V decapitates basilisk by releasing the wall lever.
He goes to stabilise an injured elven child. Br looks Twee and passes his composite bow and his blood mail to the main floor.
Grom's weapon was a stone greataxe called Greataxe of the Mountain, which is flanged plate.
Groob meets up with them again and gives over the shaman staff, but gets angry because they didn't actually kill Joor. V makes the shaman angry and gets slowed.
V - casts very slow scorching rays
G - prays to Gruush + summons bloody bat things that give necrotic damage.
B - rolls 8 on death saving throw
V - stablises Bramble + fireballs shaman, knocking him off tower w/ concussive force. Makes Br drink potion. As they go back down the tower they find a filled in mineshaft that Joor has escaped through. Veran wears the shaman's Cloak of Arachnia and Bramble takes the Staff of Air. Back to Greenest.

Session Five

Attending: Balasar, Bramble, Veran (DMPC), Ysmir

Bramble woke up to restless pups, and the sounds of small feet and giggling. After investigation he saw nothing recognisable until a creature with pointed ears cut the dogs free. He yells to wake up the others and Balasar grabs one while Bramble lures the girl back. A grandfather gnome apologises for his grandkids' antics and asks to sit at their fire for a while. They travel to Greenest together down a small trail and hear the sound of orc warhorns.

'I run smoother than most,
Any rhyme,
I love to fall but cannot climb.'
Ysmir pours her waterskin on it and makes it open.
'Where may you...roads without carts
Cities without houses
Forests without trees'
When they placed the map in the hole the door to the cavern opened.

'I cover cities and destroy mountains
Make men blind but help them see
To progress, you fill basin with me'
When the wrong thing is placed in the bowl, menacing shadow creatures melt out of the corners of the room and begin to attack. The party walks outside again and talks some more. Bramble gets frustrated, runs in and begins to fill it with sand from his cupped hands. Shadows begin to sap his strength and finally Ysmir and Veran help fill it. The riddle reveals a wall with a shadowy statue in cloak. Ysmir bullrushes the figure and hurts herself before she realises its stone. Bramble puts on the cloak around his shoulders (Cloak of Many Things) and the necklace around his neck (Necklace of Ever-flowing Potion) and they shared out the potions on the statue's belt.

Ysmir starts attracting attention by using the name she gave before to the drunken campers and helps the monk in the arena.
